Job Description The special quality that allows Carmel Valley, California to transcend the ordinary is evident in the its wineries, tasting rooms and wine bars that are found along the dramatic valley floor. That spirit is also imparted to the wine produced in the well-drained, gravelly terraces of the Carmel Valley wine appellation (granted an official AVA designation in 1983). On behalf of historical estate grown winery in beautiful Monterey County, California, we are seeking high energy talented wine savvy candidates for the position of Tasting Room Manager. This is a full-time position (direct hire).

The Tasting Room Manager (TRM) works collaboratively with the owner to manage and perform the daily and event driven needs of tasting rooms, and sales and delivery. The TRM is responsible for management of the tasting room, wine sales, wine club membership, event execution, managing, training, and scheduling staff, as well as monitoring work flow.

Responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Ensures the tasting rooms are staged to encourage an outstanding customer experience . The manager ensures staff is well trained on the wines and selling of wine and add-ons.
- Manages all tasting room wine sales and collaborates with owner on marketing efforts in order to increase sales and profitability.
- Manages the wine club and its members.
- Monitors wine club sales, manages and increases membership, ensures delivery, communicates with members to receive feedback, creates special events and programs for members to increase sales.
- Assists in the creation of and coordinates and executes events to increase sales. This includes wine parties, special member events and tastings, and off site events.
- Works with the owner to develop budgets, forecasting, a tracking system that is simple yet provides the details needed to quickly respond and course correct when needed.
- Develops club membership contracts and signs all contracts for tasting room events.
- Meets marketing and sales objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Monitors and controls expenses. Implements business processes and forms to support effective financial management.
- Performs personnel duties for direct report positions: staffing, leads recruitment and selection efforts and conducts new employee orientation with support from the owner. Ensures proper staffing at all times.
- Trains and develops staff through 1:1 coaching, training, shadowing, and by offering appropriate internal and external training resources
Candidate Requirements Ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and education (a combination of same will be considered);

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent in experience and education.
- Working knowledge of and appreciation for fine wine
- Knowledge of sales training tools and techniques conducive to wine sales.
- Knowledge of sales process, channels and clubs to promote sales.
- At least three years tasting room or similar hospitality experience.
- Experience planning and organizing hospitality events.
- Experience developing a marketing plan and performing marketing outreach duties.
- Experience setting and reaching sales goals
- LEAD certified or ability to become certified.
- Minimum three years supervising employees w/basic human resources knowledge.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and VIN65
. - Knowledge of and experience working with money and balancing a cash drawer.
- Must be a team player with strong work ethic.
